• Immunization is a very important health activity that has been carried over by the Department under Universal Immunization Programme (UIP).
• UIP covers the children from birth to 16 years of age and pregnant women.
• AMC runs 62 Urban Health Centers where vaccines are given to the beneficiaries on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 am to 1 pm. Outreach vaccination in the slum area is done on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday as per the microplanning as the Mamta Diwas activity.
• Corporation/ Government Hospitals also carry out vaccination at their PP Unit.
• Vaccination is done by the trained staff like ANM/FHW/ Nurse.

• Vaccines are provided to AMC by the State Government. Vaccine is stored at central level in ILR/ DF and is being distributed to UHC and Hospitals as per their monthly demand. At each place, vaccine is stored and supplied by maintaining cold chain as per the prescribed guidelines.
• Department also conducts Pulse Polio Campaign as NID and SNID round under Intensive Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) activity which covers all the children below 5 years. Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) case surveillance is also intensively carried out by the Department to detect wild polio cases. Due to the sustained efforts by all sections of the society, India was been declared Polio Free country by WHO (World Health Organization) on 27th March, 2014.

To ensure Full Immunization of all the children and pregnant women of the city and especially of those belonging to slum and high risk population.

Reporting and continuous supervision of Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) and making all the efforts to decrease the VPD cases.
