▪ Mr. M. Thennarasan, Municipal Commissioner Ahmedabad belongs to the Gujarat Cadre of IAS (2000 Batch). He has varied experience of over 21 years across different government sectors incl. urban, infrastructure, smart city and industries, mines and Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation.

▪ He has played pivotal role in ensuring doing business reforms in industries which involved developing online modules for all industry related applications in GIDC, Geographical Information System (GIS) based estate information system, a mobile based app 'GIDC SETU', self-certification, smart water meters and smart DCR for plan approval.

▪ GIDC - Many important projects like "Bulk Drug Park", Textile Park, Tribal, Sea food and agriculture park are acquired and sanctioned at state and GOI level. He played crucial role in transforming to Digital Governance in GIDC.

▪ As SMC Commissioner he has spearheaded two of the most ambitious initiatives - Smart City and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. His inclination towards utilization of the technology for improving internal efficiencies and citizen satisfaction has resulted in strengthening IT set up at SMC.

▪ At Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, he was instrumental in implementation of BRTS and Sabarmati River Front Project apart from various other initiatives. He then served as Commissioner in Geology and Mining Department and Secretary in Women & Child Development Department. He introduced major-mineral mining auction for the first time and played pivotal role in preparing minor mineral rules.
