    General

    In order to make the city beautiful and more liveable there is a requirement of providing a pleasant environment by greening the city by developing beautiful Parks and Gardens. This can be achieved by massive tree plantation and by developing more public parks in order to make Ahmedabad - A Green City.

    Roles & Functions

    Amdavad Municipal Corporation has initiated several measures to increase the green cover in order to make the city green and beautiful. AMC has also taken special measures to improve environment through greening the city by roadside plantation, improving the parks and gardens and development of urban forestry in various municipal plots in the city. AMC has also taken up massive plantation drives in open plots through its own Parks and Garden Department. In order to make the city more beautiful and livable Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has been making concerted efforts for protection of environment and greening the city by way of parks and gardens and tree plantation in which corporate houses are also made to participate. Environment education is imparted by arranging various tree plantation programs in which children are encouraged to participate. In order to spread awareness among general masses, door-to-door distribution of plants is carried out during the Monsoon. The following actions have been taken to increase the green cover.

    • Devlopment of New Gardens & Recreational Centres
    • Upgradation & Maintenance of existing gardens
    • Beautification of central verge & traffic circles on roads
    • Tree plantation in Municipal open plots
    • Tree plantation on road side
    • Landscape development in AMC installations
    • Beautification around lakes
    • Plant Nursery development
    • Development of amusement facilities in the gardens
    • Creating awareness for tree plantation in private premises
    • Tree cutting/trimming work
    • Initiate action against illegal tree cutting
    • Development of central verge/traffic circle by Public Private Partnership
    • Give permission for photography/shooting in public garden
    • Protection of green cover
