Election Department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) is entrusted with the responsibility of preparing Main Election Voters Roll as per the time to time orders/circulars of State Election Commission, Gandhinagar in co-ordination with District Election Officer & Collector, Ahmedabad. Election Department makes all the necessary arrangements as per the rules and regulations with regard to Municipal General Elections/By-Elections of AMC on the basis of population census. AMCs Election Department works towards preparing draft for delimitation of Election Wards, Boundaries, Seat Allocation and Implementation of Model Code of Conduct within the Municipal boundaries at the time of Parliamentary, Assembly as well as Municipal Elections and By-Elections.

Election Wards' formation, delimitation and seat allocation related work of areas under the jurisdiction of AMC including the merged areas of 1-Nagarpalika, 2-Gram Panchayats and Revenue survey nos. of 9-Gram Panchayats falling within the ring road boundry of AMC has been completed and State Election Commission, Gandhinagar has published final ward delimitation on 03/10/2020. As per the final ward delimitation Election Wards are 48 and Municipal Councillors are 192 and on the basis of above delimitation General Elections to the AMC was held on 21/02/2021.
